I have had it for one year, and have managed to get it started only with great effort. Everything else about the machine is fine.... but its not worth it.

My original bag lasted over 6 years and the fabric was still intact when the zipper failed despite mowing a lot of lawn in all conditions: wet, dry, dusty, etc.I never had serious problems with two of the three Lawn Boy mowers or their accessories I've owned in over 40 years.This bag is no exception.

(More customer reviews)The mower came all assembled (except for needing oil added) and started right off.I've never had a self propelled mower before, so it took some getting use to having to walk at the mower's speed (I seem to want to walk faster).But, it mows the grass very nicely.So far, all I've done is mulch, but it does it very well.And, I don't end up tired when I'm done mowing like I did on my "push" mower.I think this is going to work out very well for me.

(More customer reviews)Am unable to give actual use of this mower as it arrived with concealed damage to rear wheel bracket causing wheel to be cocked. Bracket bent, and as of now, (have had machine for over 3 weeks) I have been unable to get satisfactory results from Poulan or its online service sites for replacement of the proper bracket so wheel is properly aligned vertically. I believe the mower will work well once this problem is resolved, but so far have not been able to put oil in engine as repair requires mower be placed on side to remove wheel and mounting bracket. Strangely, the Poulan service web site has no info or record of this particular mower model, and a letter to Poulan has as yet to be replied to after over a week and a half. If I can get a new wheel bracket I can replace it myself and start using the mower.....so far I have been stonewalled on this item....... RPQ

(More customer reviews)I've had some great mowers over the years but this isn't one of them. I figured the old adage you get what you pay for would hold true since the mower cost well over $200.
Used it last summer, put it away for winter and all the oil had drained out creating a huge mess. Home Depot, where I purchased it said that they've had problems with it but since I had put gasoline in it they couldn't accept it as a return.

(More customer reviews)Have had this mower model for three years and it has never failed to start.Mow about 5,000 sqft once a week in season.HOWEVER, the rear wheels are made of cheap, cheap, cheap and flimsy plastic and have broken one per year and the cost is now ~$35 incl. shipping.So, factor in another $100 to your cost of ownership over 3 or 4 years.

(More customer reviews)I too purchase this mower on sale at Menards to replace a Snapper with a Briggs engine which had starting/run issues starting after 3 years. I did not do much research on this mower, but remembered good comments on Kohler years back when looking for a mower. Appearently, Kohler uses heavy duty components even in their smaller engines. The price was competitive on this unit, but for $50 more I could have got a name brand mower with a Honda engine with variable speed at Lowes. I believe Lowes would replace the unit if I did not like it.

Performance wise, this mower is bagging grass fine. I thought maybe the bag would not hold much,as compared with my prior mower, but holds about 3/4 of a garbage can and does not clog up like my former mower. Cutting thick long grass did not slow mowing performance. Engine has nice, not too loud hum to it when running. I takes one to two pulls to start when changing bags on a hot engine. The engine needs no priming and this may cause an additional pull on a hot engine. Cold engine started with one pull. I looked on Sears web site to check reviews on what others thought of this engine and nearly all were favorable.

This mower has front wheel drive and has OK traction. My Snapper had rear wheel traction and that was better, but inclines are the only area of concern. I just lift the handle up a bit and that forces more pressure to the front tires and all is fine.

I think this should be a good mower, but time will tell.
